Dr. Tony Lemieux, Director

Welcome to the Global Studies Institute!

GSI was established in 2015 to inspire collaborative interdisciplinary research, education, and outreach. Our research generates knowledge to tackle pressing global issues including conflict & terrorism, human rights, challenges facing global cities and beyond.

We aim for our students to become globally-engaged dynamic and critical thinkers, with training that cuts across disciplines. To realize this goal, we’ve established an undergraduate Major in Global Studies as part of the Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies degree. When you join us as a student, you’ll have the opportunity to work with our world-class faculty who are national and international experts across the disciplines of Anthropology, Communication, Geography, Political Science, Neuroscience, Psychology, Public Health, and Sociology. Our faculty are actively engaged in developing the next generation of scholars by teaching, mentoring, and supervising graduate students and post-doctoral fellows in close collaboration with our partnering departments.

GSI also houses five International Centers, which are actively involved in promoting research, educational programming, along with community outreach and engagement – all core aspects of our mission.

Please continue to browse our site to learn more about our research activities and programs, including those that are led by our Centers. We welcome you to join us, and invite you to visit us on the 18th floor of 25 Park Place.

We look forward to seeing you!

For the 2018-2019 academic year, Dr. Michael Herb of the Political Science Department is serving as Acting Director of GSI while Dr. Lemieux is on fellowship with the American Council on Education.
